Interior of the Maloka ceremony space at Casa Arkaana

Ceremony

The Temple

A ten-meter octagonal space built in the tradition of ancient Maya vernacular architecture — stone, mortar, wood, and palm. The octagon represents the infinite and the wholeness of our being.

Beneath the floor and within the walls, we placed quartz, amethyst, and rose quartz during construction — a quiet intention set into the foundation itself. Every side is open to the jungle through fine mosquito netting, so the space breathes with you while keeping you fully protected.

Hundreds of ceremonies, breathwork sessions, and somatic practices have been held within these walls. The morning integration circle begins here — where participants process, share, and ground what was received in the night. You can feel it the moment you step in.

Purification Ritual

Temazcal (Sweat Lodge)

A pre-Hispanic ceremony practised across the Americas — from north to south — long before borders existed. The temazcal represents our mother's womb: a place of purification, prayer, and rebirth. Ours is aligned to the east, receiving the first light of the rising sun.

Built by local craftsmen using traditional methods, this is one of the most sacred spaces on the land. We honour this ritual as it was passed down — with reverence, with fire, and with prayer. The ancient temazcal ceremony and the cold plunge into the cenote pool that follows offer a profound nervous system reset — releasing what the body has held and returning it to its natural rhythm.

Gathering

Fire Circle

Since humans first learned to make fire, we have gathered in circle to share, to speak, to listen. This is one of those spaces. Set beside the pool where water, earth, fire, and air meet — a place to raise a prayer, release what's heavy, or simply sit in warmth and silence.

The fire circle is where retreats come alive after dark. No agenda, no structure — just the oldest form of human connection there is.

Immersion

Cenote Pool

The land chose the shape — we simply cleaned it up. Beneath Casa Arkaana, sacred cenotes feed the pool with living water — a rare gift of the Yucatan karst landscape. This organic, free-form pool sits where the jungle opens naturally. A hybrid filtration system keeps the water clean and gentle on the skin.

Shallow bench entries make it ideal for aqua therapies like Janzu and waterwork healings. The shape naturally invites integration circles, quiet floating, or simply cooling down after a temazcal — the cold plunge after ceremony is a rite of passage here.

Jungle Casitas

4 Casitas

Four private casitas nestled deeper into the jungle — for those who want full immersion. Each can be set as king-size or two individual beds. Shared bathrooms behind the temple with hot water bamboo showers and dry compost toilets. Why compost? We sit directly above the cenote river system — the same sacred water that feeds the pool and the region's aquifer. Once you experience it, it makes perfect sense.
