The Vision

Most retreats ask you to sit still. To go inward. To close the circle.

This one asks you to move first.

Before the ceremonies, before the temple, there is Sian Ka'an — the last untouched coastline of the Caribbean, a UNESCO biosphere reserve where the Mayan world called the sky home. You will go exploring hidden cenotes. You will sleep under a sky full of stars. You will kayak at dawn through mangroves that have never heard a hotel.

Then you come home — to Casa Arkaana, to the temazcal, to the cenote pool, to the temple. And there, with the body already open, already humbled by the sea and the jungle and the night, the medicine finds you differently.

Spirit and matter are not opposites. The adventure is not a warm-up. It is the prayer.

Seven days. Seven people. A small container.

Frequently Asked

Questions guests ask before saying yes.

What makes this different from a ceremony-only retreat?

Most retreats stay in one place. This one moves. Before the ceremonies, before the temple, there is Sian Ka'an — one of the last untouched coastlines in the Caribbean, a UNESCO biosphere reserve where the Mayan world called the sky home. You explore hidden cenotes. You sleep under a sky full of stars. You kayak at dawn through mangroves. Then you return to Casa Arkaana — and with the body already open, already humbled by the sea and the jungle and the night, the medicine finds you differently.

Do I need swimming experience?

No certification required. You need to be comfortable in open water — able to float calmly on the surface and put your face underwater. Alonso, our local guide in Sian Ka'an, adapts the session to where you are. If you're a strong swimmer, you'll go deeper. If you're new to the ocean, you'll be held at the surface. Both are valid.

Is peyote legal in Mexico?

Peyote is a sacred plant medicine with deep roots in indigenous Wixárika tradition in Mexico. We work with it under the guidance of Marco, who has held peyote ceremonies for years with lineage and care. We will walk through the legal, cultural, and ceremonial context with every participant before the retreat.

What is the camping like in Sian Ka'an?

Simple and intentional. You sleep under the Mayan sky in a protected biosphere reserve — one of the least light-polluted coastlines in the region. Camping essentials are provided. The night after the peyote ceremony, the stars are the ceremony. Bring a light layer for the night breeze.

How physically demanding is this retreat?

Moderate. The most demanding day is the kayak day — a morning on the water followed by movement through the jungle. Day 4 adds a 3-hour jungle hike and a 2-hour temazcal. Days 5–7 are restful and inward. If you walk regularly and can handle heat, you are physically ready.

Is there screening for the medicine ceremonies?

Yes. Peyote and ayahuasca are powerful plants that require responsible preparation. Certain medications (especially SSRIs and MAOIs) are contraindicated. When you reserve your spot, Asdru will reach out personally to walk through your health history and readiness. Screening is held with care and confidentiality.

Is this retreat for beginners?

This retreat combines two sacred medicines with a physical expedition — it asks more of you than a single-ceremony container. Prior ceremony experience is helpful but not required. What matters is your readiness: to push your physical comfort zone, to sit with the unknown, and to integrate what arises. Asdru will assess this with you on the call.

Why only 7 people?

The Sian Ka'an expedition travels in two trucks. We can bring 7 participants alongside the team safely. That limit is also our intention — 7 is intimate enough that everyone is seen, held, and accounted for, in the jungle and in ceremony.

What should I bring?

Light layers for the Sian Ka'an night, swimwear, reef-safe sunscreen, closed shoes for the jungle hike, a journal, and whatever personal items support your ceremony work. A full packing list is sent after you reserve.

How do I get to Casa Arkaana?

Casa Arkaana is 90 minutes from Cancún International Airport (CUN) and 60 minutes from Tulum airport (TQO). We can arrange airport transfers — tell us your flight details after booking.
